I really liked the way it was going, the short stories as Kei travels and the little details of what she sees about Earth but the ending felt so rushed almost unsatisfying... i found it lacked descriptions so I was left confused mpst of the time which was great at times but also... not reall. So yeah, enjoyable, would recommend but cannot say it was great !

In trying to do a different structure it made the opening and middle parts of the novel quite confusing - who is the person we’re following, why are we invested? We know she’s getting back to “her” but not who she is. It’s also hinted she doesn’t want to kill “anymore” but we don’t know why. When these gaps were finally filled in, it was quite evocative and the ending was sweet but it came far too late for me. Did love the parts with Nana and Ken though.

I really enjoyed this book from a world building perspective - Curtis does a fantastic job at creating the world and religion in it, without overdoing it for a short standalone.
The first half of the book reads like a collection of short story’s centring around the main character - I really enjoyed this, especially the ever changing main character’s name.
My one gripe is that I did not feel invested in their love story - I feel I didn’t know enough about it, nor feel connected to the love-interested on a personable character level until the last 30 or so pages. For me, the world building was why I stayed, it’s a shame I didn’t love the love.
