Wow. Wow. I am stunned beyond words. This was such an impressive read and it didn’t disappoint. I listened to the audio and I really think it’s best to take this story in through audio. The voice actors brought the characters to life and add so much to the numerous vulnerable conversations and raw feelings throughout the story. Unpopular opinion but Niko’s POV was fine with me, it was kind of a breathe of fresh air because the other MMC from the other books in this series were too similar to be honest so the funny commentary / immaturity POV of Niko was fine with me! I actually liked it. The thing I loved most about their story was the way they described how they saw the other, the numerous euphemisms, similes, metaphors, almost sounded so poetic and further showed how down bad they both are for each other even in their dark moments.

Brandon and Niko’s story was written so beautiful. The push and pull between the two of them and the numerous scenarios / banter between them was perfect. I really loved how Niko gave Brandon grace and time for him to come to terms with/ accept himself and his sexuality, his constant care for Brandon did not go unnoticed! However his fury was definitely demonstrated through out the book, it was moments I liked that Niko stood up for himself in terms of what he also wanted out of their developing relationship.

Oh Brandon.. Where to begin. The raw emotions and feelings and inner dialogue of Brandon and his internal struggles with mental health was ground breaking. The way the author was able to write such a complex character that not only went through so much but also his stages of acceptance of coming out was written so beautifully. The ups and downs, the highs and lows were throughout the story which further showed how important / made the experience feel very real.

The private conversations with their families and their friends talking about the other was so bitter sweet! I loved the constant support and love surrounding them and I’m so glad they got their HEA! They deserve the happiness.

CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS COVERED.
I read the book a long time ago, but I've just read one review and thought I should update this.
👍Things I liked👍
--> LEVI! I loved this man. I'm totally in love. (Don't recommend me his and his wife's book. It will ruin my mental image of him, I'm sure.)
--> The domestic scenes were so precious (e.g., seeing Agatha Christie together)
--> There were very comic sentences/scenes
--> I actually loved how they killed Grace
--> I liked how it was a woman SA a man and how it happened.

👎Things I didn’t like👎
--> DUB CONSENT.
We just understand it is consented because of Bran's pov (still, there is a scene where they have sx against a tree that... naah). Regardless, we can see Nik not caring abt Bran's consent - he actually says it.

--> Niko is way too irrealistically described like this awesome sx god. At 19. Again.. A character that has a mental condition who associates sx and violence (said by him) is a sx god. Great at it! Pleasuring everyone and
grasping Bran's assexuality like Flash. No.

--> Nik getting jealous of a child. That is just ridiculous.
--> Grace is a stupid villain. Like literally. Besides the exaggerated flare she has, she sends the incriminating footage of what she did to another person. What? I mean, she made till now... She doesn't seem that dumb...

Finally... This is not a thing I dislike but just something I want to mention. They have a codependent relationship, which is normal because none of them is in an even slightly healthy place. But one of the famous sentences is "I'll love you for both of us" (said by Nik). This may seem great and romantic, but it is not. The last season of Heartstopper, where Nick talks to his aunt at the beach (if I'm not mistaken), just popped into my mind by being the exact opposite of this sentence.

First reread and I still love it as much as I did the first time. I just love Niko, and I def understood Bran much more.

I love the narration, I will probably forever have Niko’s voice in stuck in my head lol. I bought this book immediately after I read it on KU, and the audiobook is so worth it too.

Niko is a fkn character, he really cracked me up. I have so many more highlights than I did the first time, because the two of them were just so dang cute sometimes 😂.

This book is def on my fave list, even with the things that bug me. I didn’t love how everything was happening with background characters at the same time. The MC’s would vaguely just randomly summarize some drama that happened during the time jumps, and it was pretty annoying. There was just so much going on with the side characters, and so much background from the other books, it just took away from Nikolai and Bran.
