I seriously hate this book! The amount of times I rolled my eyes and the frustrations I felt while reading was a lot. I almost lost my mind when one of the characters said he was raised to respect women but at the same time calling them “holes” and that their only purpose is to be used… but then again, Rina Kent isn’t really known to love women in her stories.

With that said, I still give this book 2 stars because I couldn’t quite dnf it. Whenever I was ready to give up on this book (whenever Nikolai talked to his dick) I was somehow sucked back in and wanted to know what happened next. However, this book was too long especially since it didn’t really have a plot until the last 20% of the book.

The royal elite series had me in a chokehold a few years back which is why I was confused about not liking Rina Kent’s legacy of gods series. I’m not sure if she changed her writing or if it’s a me problem. Most likely it’s a me problem and the fact that I’m longer interested in reading about spineless fmcs and misogynistic mmcs. Since this is Rina Kent’s first mm book I’ll cut her some slack. Nevertheless, you’ll find much better mm books out there than this book.

“this time it will be different” - every person in a toxic relationship ever.

i enjoyed it! i have an issue with the way Brandon’s
suicide attempt and self harm
is handled, if only because of the neat bow it’s tied up in. Nikolai is a psycho and not in a cute way. i have complicated feelings about their relationship, but a lot of it has more to do with Brandon’s family stuff than Niko and Bran themselves.

Enjoyed it alot, especially int the beginning half I was hooked, but at the end it kinda dragged on.

Very good spice, and good actual morally gray characters. Also quite some darker themes regarding mental health, which were actually quite well done.

Read this as a standalone, which is doable, but holy shit so many side characters that all seem to blur together and don't have any depth in this book. As far as I understand, most couples (MF) have their own book and story which builds itself in parallel to the god of fury timeline. So I kinda of ignored most of the 'fluff' characters since they didn't add much nonetheless.

Do recommend it, was a quick enjoyable read, even shed some tears at the end.

I read the first few chapters of God of Malice (the first book in the series) months ago. I put it down and never picked it back up. I did not like it.

The next thing I know, I see edits and reviews of people talking about this book. Niko and Bran this, Niko and Bran that. I saw quotes and screenshots and even heard snippets of the audiobook.

It got me. I had to read this. Is this book really that good? And, damn it sure was. I read right through this on my Kindle never once did I put it down. I highlighted SO MANY moments in this book. Niko and Brandon are everything. Niko is crazy but so so soft for Brandon, the way he helped him through his issues. He pushed Brandon but at the same time was patient with him because he saw how twisted up he was.

I also loved Brandon and Landon's relationship. We didn't see a lot of Lan but when we did he was 100% behind Brandon even when Brandon was actively pushing him away. The moment they had at the end was so sweet.
Niko/Landon teamup was perfect! and well deserved, that person deserved what they did to them.
Levi's (Brandon's father) chapter was funny too. Niko's relationship with his father Kyle was so cute.

Overall, I loved this book. The only annoying thing was the whole Koyla nonsense with Niko but whatever it didn't bother me too much. Now, just so you know you don't have to read the previous books to understand this, I was never confused or lost throughout this story.

5 out 5 for me! NIKOBRAN FOREVER!

This is a lot and I don't think I can handle their mental illnesses with my own right now. 💀

I think Kent did a lot of things well in this book, especially considering she normally writes MF romance. Niko and Bran were both really unique and compelling characters and I was rooting for them. I appreciated the trigger warnings, we knew that we were getting into from the jump.

I do wish she would have handled Niko’s medication issues differently. While some people do experience negative side effects from psychiatric medications, it isn’t typically to the extreme described (and usually that just means a lower dosage is needed). Because of so many people’s hesitancy to use psychiatric medications it’s frustrating to see an author write a stereotype that is rare and prevents people from using life saving medication. Especially when she handled all of the other mental health conditions with such care through out the story.
