I've always preferred fantasy to science fiction and picked up this book without knowing what I was getting into. To call it thought provoking, would be a disservice as it keeps you captivated introducing new ideas and presenting entirely alien and yet dissonantly relatable quandaries with every turn of the page. I can't pick up the second book in the trilogy just yet because I'm just a little bit afraid it won't live up to the standard the first has set and because I need a while to think through all it has left me with. What a gift this book is and what a talent this writer is.

I really enjoy Butler’s work but Dawn was just okay. Perhaps it doesn’t work as well for me as a standalone because it’s a series?

I really enjoyed the first 2 parts but then it kind of went downhill for me. But the concept is, like all of Butler’s work, so brilliant and ahead of it’s time.

An absolutely insane read. Which I loved! But wild nonetheless
