I loved Briseis as the narrator. Her strong will was felt through the entirety of the novel even though she was just a slave. The writing conveyed a very complicated character in Achilles in which you almost feel sorry for him. Overall, an incredibly enjoyable read. 4/5

I really enjoyed this book, but at the same time it is hard to read on parts. I think this version highlighted the customs of the time with some really unique feeling parts. There were times I wished we'd slowed down to dig into a moment a bit more.
I had hoped for more women to feature. Not like change their roles but it was more so center Achilles than I thought it would be, she even says this is all his story. There was very little kindness amongst the women which also felt disappointing.
Even still I enjoyed the story.

Sad but a good read, it’s interesting to read a different aspect about achilles, especially after ‘the song of Achilles’. Much more intersting to read about briseis, and how she isn’t made out to be a huge heroine, but just a women that survives.

I loved this book! It was a hard read, it brought up a lot of emotions and touched on a lot of tough topics. It was fantastically written. I felt everything and saw everything the main character experienced and I was totally immersed in this book
