If you like f/f romance, swords, MCs who don't know they're the chosen one, MCs with special powers, and evil Councillors bent on destroying their world, hot damn do I have a book to recommend to you. This book is funny, and it pokes fun at itself.

I expected to like this book more, I usually enjoy fantasy but I felt something amiss while reading it.
I appreciated Rhi/Sev snark and sass, what I couldn't understand was how every single seemingly brilliant character was always so oblivious!
The villains were dastardly twirling their moustaches 70% of the time and nobody questioned them, everyone reacted like 'oh they are truly awful and surely up to no good but what can I do? I'm just a VIP in charge of the realm/guards/etc.. it's not like I have some saying in all this'
The pace felt uneven at times, some parts dragged while other passed way too fast.
The ancient prophecy that was mentioned throughout the book concluded with a half page skirmish, anticlimactic much?

Not one of my favourite book by KJ, it's not that is bad, but all her other stories struck a chord with me while this one did not.
