If your only experience of Swan Lake is the Swan Princess animated movie, you're going to find this book depressing. Fonteyn is not the most masterful writer, though it's clear that she understands the characters of Odette and Odile. Schart Hyman's illustrations are exquisitely delicate and detailed, as always.

The story of Swan Lake beautifully illustrated by Trina Schart Hyman and retold by famous ballerina Margot Fontaine. Love it! So sad it is out of print.
