A very special way of narrating the storey, there are no chapters, the book flows like a train of though and I loved to read these books while on holidays / traveling as it synced with my people watching / conversations with strangers that sit next to you on the plane or wait for the same bus…
I loved the philosophical questions about life that Rachel Cush so nicely put into monologues of different people.
She has a special way of telling a story, there is almost no plot, or there are many of them, but sometimes this kind of reading is exactly what you need.

Loved this book. It might have been my favorite in the series. One of my favorite quotes from anything I've read this year, "It may be the case, she said, that it is only when it is too late to escape that we see we were free all along."
Final anthology of borgeois conversations of literati. An overriding theme from the trilogy of the effects of divorce on women and their children. Re-invention and female oppression.
Not the best of the three, and I found the writing to be less focused and not as interesting as the previous two.. still enjoyed it.
There is indeed "too much of a good thing" with Cusk's style. This one read as a parody of the first two with her worst traits ratcheted up. Still the little trilogy has been stirring and profound, if only for the gradual dislike I've developed for Faye / Cusk, so distant, so imperious, so absolutely ensconced in her upper middle class bullshit life. This one manages to be much bitterer than Transit with even less of the momentum of plot than Outline. The characters' 'monologues are so much more clunkily introduced, and their voices begin to blend, like Cusk herself lost the ability to imitate distinct working lives as she surrounded herself with whining humourless middle-aged dullards. But there are little moments... It's good to hate a book and an author partially motivated by reluctant acknowledgment of brilliance.

I’m not sure i enjoyed what was essentially uninterrupted soliloquies delivered by random characters. Otherwise Cusk always kills with her wit and insight
