I feel like the League of Scoundrels just gets better and better with each book; I enjoyed this one immensely. Mara is such a feisty, powerful heroine even as she is crippled with self-doubt, which feels very believable for a survivor of abuse. I’m not normally big on pugilism scenes but Temple was such a lovable hero and the drama of both the act 2 and act 3 climaxes (lol) was *chefs kiss.*

Enemies to allies to lovers, this book is great fun with high emotional and material stakes to support a bananas little plot - the thing MacLean does best. The MCs have a bit of Jessica and Dain to them, so if you enjoyed Lord of Scoundrels you'll love this one too! Great if you love when the love interests engage in a fierce battle of wits and then turn around and save each other from danger, or if you just like to see a powerful man get challenged by an equally powerful woman.
