I really wanted to like this book since I got it through the early reviewers group, but sadly it was awful. I couldn't even finish the book it was so bad. The concept of the book sounded interesting enough, but the writing style was not engaging in the least. The writing came across as if written buy a teenager and the story was all over the place. The characters were extremely one dimensional, and well, it was just... bad. I would definitely not recommend this book and wouldn't ever attempt another written by this author.

Fun, quick read. Predictable but entertaining. There’s a surprising twist at the end.

I read this in about 2 hours. I could put it down and I couldn't continue without researching the law. Lol. So worth it it. Great story.

Well...I’ll declare One In A Million to be my challenge read because I typically don’t read romance and/or Christian fiction. This novella presents characters as being either imperfectly human or flawed beyond redemption (not a Christian way to think of a person but I would need to constantly work to forgive Blake if I was Kennedi). My overall impression of the story-dramatic!
Writing style-not bad but I think some editing would improve word flow. For example, “she wasn’t sure what her next steps should be, although she guessed the first thing she needed to do was call her husband ,Blake, on his cell phone” (1).
This could be me thinking too much, but I felt Kennedi was too old to be so naive. I guess the intent was to present her as somewhat contrasting with her best friend Patrice who is assuredly more confident. Even Serena, Blake’s mistress is displayed as having more confidence, though hers is dependent on her relationship with Blake. So what’s the message in One In A Million? Consider carefully who you’re faithful to and why? Loving self is not selfish? Take a chance sometime? I think it’s all of the above.

A husband and wife both have important news to tell each other,  the husband goes first. He's leaving and wants a divorce.. so the wife keeps her life changing news to herself.  The concept of the book had potential... the execution unfortunately failed. Lack of character development, I honestly don't know one personal thing about any of the characters.  The conversations between the characters seemed forced and unnatural.. it was a short book though,  and quick and easy read.

VERY light fare, read for a friend's book group in prep of author's upcoming lecture. Despite her writing the most predictable dialogue ever, you can tell she puts effort into her stories, & I found it refreshing to read an African-American novella vs. another caucasians-only beach read.
