This ending left me so confused. It's written as a trilogy, and is meant to FINISH the series, but, like, that's it? That's the ending? It's very rushed, and it just kind of ends. And if this truly was meant to cap off the trilogy, then why are there more books? And if it was meant to just be 3 books, then why on earth wasn't there any character arcs of growth except for Juliette and Warner?
Let's talk characters. Juliette has come a long way since book 1, and good, she has a full arc in this. She gets her training montage, her power skillset evolves, she's formidable now.
Warner has a MASSIVE growth in this, except I think the two of them could have benefited from more one on one emotional conversations. I kept waiting for the other shoe to fall for this entire book, but it never does.
Kenji is great, as always. Adam became a complete and utter anus of a character. James is sweet. There were a lot of great secondary character moments, though I feel some were forgotten about at the end of the story.
There were, well, good moments in this. But the story and setting is still much weaker than the characters.
If this series was in the adult genre instead of YA, I could see a lot of my problems being solved. There's just something missing for me.
And, because it's first person through Juliette's eyes, you're seeing everything through her perspective - and besides a bedroom, a training room, and a ship, that's all the places you go in this.
I expected more from a final book in a trilogy, but my expectations are also due to the Shatter Me series being so highly praised, Aaron Warner being so worshipped, Juliette being a strong FMC, that I went into this with that bar to be reached but it all fell short.
This trilogy, just these first 3 books, could have easily been stretched to 4 books, more flushed out world building, depth of setting and characters, and more conversations between the team for a more satisfying finale - like, Juliette and Lily barely say 5 sentences to each other! They're training together this WHOLE BOOK.

I'm stopping the series here. I haven't connected to this as much as I expected it to, and I was disappointed with the world building. I'm not likely to read these again and I'm glad I borrowed them because I would have regretted spending the money.
The ending dropped this to a 2.75 for me. I'm still annoyed.

Boo for making Adam a sudden piece of shit tbh (I knew it was coming. What cheap writing)

I hate Aaron with a passion I don't understand what the point of this was

Kenji owns my heart and my soul he was the only good part about this book

I'm finishing the rest of them because I legally have to now but I am currently pissed at where the author decided to take this because Aaron has not redeemed himself at all in my eyes.

All he did was cry and come up with "reasons" he did the things he did lol

BEST ONE SO FAR. AARON. WARNER.
The characters honestly feel like family to me. It's just so beautiful. I loved seeing the romance flourish between Warner and Juliette, Kenji and Juliette be the epitome of platonic soulmates and Adam become the dick I knew he always was - I'm joking (sort of).
I'm honestly scared to read the rest of the series, I mean can it get any better from here? We'll see.
