This was a fun romp. Definitely feel like it should have had a trigger warning though. Heavy themes of abuse and the villian had a literal rape/murder cabin.
I would have given it more stars but it definitely read like a YA novel. There are a lot of nods to Jane Austen's work but it also reads like a book report on the works of Jane Austen in places.
It was fun reading once but I doubt I would read this again.

Did not have high hopes for this book but it was literally amazing!!! I have to read the author’s other books. There was an interesting plot, danger, romance and more! It kind of had Princess Bride vibes mixed with Jane Austen.
ended up affectionate towards this happy misadventure. 3.5
Un libro molto carino, di ispirazione austeniana (in ogni capitolo abbiamo una citazione delle opere di Jane Austen e la protagonista ne è un’appassionata lettrice), è ambientato ai primi dell’800. La storia è scorrevole, piacevole da leggere, forse un po’ scontata ma comunque intrattiene fino alla fine.

Pretty predictable, but I loved the characters and the Jane Austen feel.
The characterization relies way too heavily on comparing them to Jane Austen characters.
And I got bored.
Very clever use of the legal system at the time though. I may pick it back up.
