Not sure what to think, not really into it or a fast read, but interesting - especially about the deathless man.

When men die, they die in fear. But children die how they have been living-in hope. They don't know what's happening, so they expect nothing, they don't ask you to hold their hand-but you end up needing them to hold yours.

This book is well written. The author can certainly write a beautiful sentence and describe something well, but she wasn't able to connect me emotionally to anything going on in the book. It felt very disjointed.

Yawn. Not only was this book hard to stick with, as I found the half that follows the modern day grand-daughter to be completely uninteresting, but the story had no point or closure.

Really 3.5 stars. (Why, oh why Goodreads do you not do half stars?). Some really lovely passages, particularly the 'Balkan mythology' of the grandfather. Tight, poetic prose. For some reason, it just didn't 'grab' me, hence the 3.5 stars instead of 4.

Amazon recommendation. You'll just have to read the description on Amazon if you want to know more, but it sounds fascinating. All the more so because this is the Serbian (as I was corrected) author's first book.

An engaging and interesting story that involved the lives of many characters, the story was full of mystery and I was glued in waiting to see how the threads would unravel and explain the different mysteries. I especially enjoyed the relationship between grandfather and granddaughter it was e very touching and personal theme throughout the book.
