If you need a book to read around Valentine’s Day, choose this one!

Many times in this book, I was reminded of a Hallmark movie in the best way possible. Depending on your experience with Hallmark movies, that might be a little too cheesy at time but around Valentine’s Day, I found it to be the perfect amount of optimistic romance. I think part of the reason it reminded me of a Hallmark movie is that this book is from Hallmark Publishing (which I did not even know existed until I read this book.

I loved the dynamic between all the characters. The “magical chocolates” and the superstition behind them were handed in a unique way. I enjoyed the field reports and the other romance stories that were related to the chocolates.

I highly recommend this book, especially near Valentine’s Day!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Well, if you’re looking for an easy good time, here it is! This is cheesy to no end, but if that’s your thing, go for it! Follows the typical romance structure but, to me at least, the conflict felt nearly non existent. Dean got on my nerves sometimes, and most of Lucy’s thoughts annoyed me, but they are cute, so what can I say.

Knowing that this book was adapted into a Hallmark movie, I knew what to expect from the book. Not necessarily a bad thing because why not read something super cute and probably cheesy…..but mostly cute.

Lucy and Dean could be considered opposites yet were actually pretty similar in what motivates them in life. They are both passionate about certain things in their life to the point where it is unhealthy. I like how this element connected and brought them closer to each other.

The whole magic cupcake thing was over the top for me, but again, I knew what I was getting into so this is not necessarily a complaint.

If you’re looking for a sweet, light read, this is for you!

This was so heartwarming. It was so wholesome and I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. I would love to have a physical copy because it is one I would revisit every year. This was a no spice, no drama romance which I thought would make it a little boring but it was the exact opposite. There was no miscommunication that frustrated me, there was not a single character that I thought was annoying and it was so refreshing. Also, all the chocolate descriptions left me with a sugar craving. This just gave me warm, fuzzy feelings with the well-developed characters and you can see and understand the love that builds between Lucy and Dean. I couldn’t put this down. I am so excited to watch the movie once Hallmark releases it. I HIGHLY recommend this. I’m still swooning.

Cute, sweet, and cozy. A great palette cleanser book in between more “serious” reads. I love a fun romance. Lucy and Dean are adorable, I love a skeptic and a believer trope. I’ll definitely be reading more of Lizzie Shane’s works, and possibly making some hot cocoa bombs because I’m feeling inspired.
