Excellent graphic novel exactly what I was hoping for in this prequel story. The illustrations are phenomenal and more than that it’s a piece of the puzzle not previously given! Which just enriches the reading experience! @pickeringtonlibrary when I turn this in tomorrow I’m gonna bring it to the desk because someone has gone through and defaced the narration and that is noooot cool. I dunno if you wanna replace it with one that’s not been censored or what. Gonna give this 4/5. It’s great but there is a little bit of confusion in regards to the relationship and pacing.

Wish my library had the rest of the collection, this is a great story as a prequel to Red Rising! Fleshes out the world so much more. I do wish there were finer detail with some
of the imagery, but that’s the only real critique i’ve got.

Great Backstory

This was a really good background of Ares. I don’t know how much more two say without spoiling. I think the story does most of the heavy lifting. The landscapes and backgrounds are great, but for such an visual hierarchy I would have liked the art to be finer in its execution. I mean finer in line weight mostly. I think the idea of the art is stunning but the lining is to heavy for all the detailing they incorporate. I think the lining could have worked if the art was black and white, but it looks sloppy in color. I think I would have much preferred EITHER color or the heavy lines. Since color is such a big part of the story, the better option would have been to decrease the line weight at least for the details of the people if nothing else. It a very small change but it is a world of difference to my personal taste.

Read it because I wanted to learn more the the Red Rising world but I never really cared for Fitcher and his backstory. The graphic novel was still a good read and does an alright delivery.

I really enjoyed the story and the artwork! It is a story you might already be familiar with from reading the book series, but the visuals are BADASS. I hope there are plans for Volume 2 because I want to see Ares start and fail his rebellion and recruit "The Sons". Overall, super cool and super thrilling prequel graphic novel.
