Loved it. This book doesn't just cover the theory as it stands today. It works it's way up from ancient times, leading the reader on a delightful journey through the scientific methods and discoveries of 3000 years. The finer details of the latest research are now doubtless out of date, but you can look those up on google.
informative inspiring medium-paced

An extraordinarily detailed account of the dedicated human efforts and incredible technology that gave us answers to seemingly unanswerable questions. How can you not be amazed at your very existence after reading this?
informative

another very enjoyable book by singh, his prose is so clean and understandable, and it has a nice balance of technical and scientific details with historical storytelling.

Interesting - a thorough discussion of the history of the big bang theory.
informative slow-paced

Great intro to astrophysics, impress your friends by saying "I'm reading a book about astrophysics actually, yeah"

Loved this one! A really fascinating, well-written history on the development of the Big Bang Theory. Singh manages to give high-level overview of tough concepts in a clear and discernible manner -- in fact, I'm pretty confident a middle school student who has taken basic trigonometry could easily understand everything Singh writes in his first chapter! The book isn't completely cut and dry though; Singh infuses the story with humorous anecdotes about the physicists behind the Big Bang, making for a very compelling narrative.

It is my 3rd book in a row from this author. It was about a subject I was quite familiar with. Maybe it was too much or not very surprising to me but I liked the other ones better (cryptography and fermat's last theorem). Anyway, it is a good book, mixing history with science. You should read it.
