That ending plot twist tho…

I loved everything about this book from the characters to the story and everything in between. There were so many wonderful characters but I loved Britta and Cohen most of all I loved their romance so very much. What I loved most of all about Britta was her strength as well as her capability to love as well as her determination to find out who really murdered her Father. I loved their romance so much because it was always there they just had to work through misunderstandings and conflicts. I am happy they ended up together by the end I am looking forward to where they go from here. I loved the story it was so well written it starts with a girl hunting to survive after her father's death and everything was taken from her. The story moves to her getting caught and having to hunt the man she loves There are other things learnt after that I loved the ending looking forward to where thee story goes from here. So overall I loved this book and am looking forward to reading more soon.

This book felt off for me. I tried desperately to get into it, but I felt like it needed more attention to detail.

2.5 This was tough to get through what with Britta being all helpless one minute and then capable the next. Plus she swooned over Cohen to the point of annoyance.

Summary: Seventeen year-old Britta Flannery is at ease only in the woods with her dagger and bow. She spends her days tracking criminals alongside her father, a legendary bounty hunter--that is, until her father is murdered. The alleged killer is none other than Cohen McKay, her father's former apprentice. The only friend she's ever known. The boy she once loved who broke her heart. She must go on a dangerous quest in a world of warring kingdoms, mad kings, and dark magic to find the real killer. But Britta wields more power than she knows. And soon she will learn what has always made her different will make her a force to be reckoned with.

"Trust is a delicate thing, so easily broken and not so effortlessly repaired."

I wanted to like this book so much more than I did. I found the characters obnoxious. I doubt I read the sequel.

I surprisingly really liked this book. It didn’t get five stars however because the last page made me think I won’t like the second book.

This book was enchanting and beautiful. The characters, the setting, the plot, the world-building, the magic. All of it was fantastic. The author does a great job of developing her characters and the plot. Her descriptions were perfect. I appreciated the seeds that were planted and how the surprises were revealed. We will have to wait for the next book for somethings to be figured out, but I thought it was very smart of the author to end it the way she did. I am excited and interested to see if my suspicions are correct! I loved Britta and Cohen. She is fascinating and I loved the turn of events that came up for her. He is rugged, handsome and pretty awesome. Their romance was written and timed well. Everything about Enat was awesome too.

Was skeptical to start this but I’m glad I did. Surprised with how much I enjoyed reading this little adventure. It has it’s problems, but it was on the cozier side of YA fantasy.

I think the thing I wish I could change the most is the map. Trying to follow along Britta’s journey with the timelines outlined in the text did NOT align with the drawing near the cover. Id the editor fixed that and some scene blocking within the story, I probably would’ve given this 5 stars.
