Ok read. Britta could be pretty annoying, but the storyline was decent. I read a hilarious review before starting that I agree with a lot, though she claimed we were never given a reason for the two kingdoms starting a war. We were in fact given a reason, just not till close to the end.
I loved this story, so much! I thought the characters were relatable and it was so easy to find yourself engrossed in the story. I loved the twists and turns and unpredictability of the story line. I can't wait for the sequel!

While there were a few moments that were slow and repetitive, this is a good book, overall. I saw all the plot twists coming, except for the one on the very end. I really liked all the characters, except for Cohen. Half of the time I liked him, the other half he annoyed me to death. Also, I hope we get to see more of King Aodren in the next book, since I feel there is a love triangle coming up.

Meine Meinung:
Das Buch hat wirklich große Erwartungen in mir hervorgerufen. Leider konnten nicht alle erfüllt werden.
Ich schätze mal das es ein jedes Buch etwas schwieriger hat, wenn man schon so hohe Erwartungen hat. Natürlich bin ich auch nicht ganz neu in dem Genre und hab schon einige Bücher (großartige) daraus gelesen. Daher muss ich gleich mal sagen hat es für "Für immer gejagt" schon mal nicht so leicht gehabt. Aber thirst Things thirst:
Der Einstieg in das Buch fiel mir relativ schwer, es liegt wohl auch an dem Schreibstil, der für mich stellenweise einfach zu abgehackt wirkt, so als würde man uns einfach eine TO DO liste vor predigen. Das Fand ich wirklich schade, da man doch an anderen Stellen merkte das die Autorin es auch anders kann.
Nach einer etwas längeren "Eingewöhnungsphase " habe aber auch ich mich an den Schreibstil gewöhnt. Die Geschichte ist wirklich interessant und hat mich schnell gepackt. Jedoch hat mir von Anfang an etwas gefällt. Das was gefällt hat, bekam ich zwar noch im laufe des Buches, aber doch ziemlich am Ende.
Die Protagonistin ist mir wirklich Sympathisch, und ich mochte sie sehr. Es gefiel mir auch das es nicht einer der Charakteren ist, die zur Zeit ja sehr modern zu sein scheinen, nein hier ist eine Protagonistin die wirklich stark ist und nicht erst auf ihren Prinzen oder ihre Kleider warten muss.
Die "Jagd" um die es hier geht, erkenne ich bzw. erlebe ich eigentlich eher weniger. Ja, es wird die ganze Zeit jemand gesucht, aber wirklich Spannend? Eine wirkliche Jagd? Hmm.. Eher weniger.
Ich muss sagen das Buch konnte mich erst richtig gegen Ende fesseln. Hier kam auch etwas Spannung auf, die mir in dem ganzen Buch sehr gefehlt hat. Das ende konnte mich dann sogar doch etwas überraschen und setzt auch gute Vorraussetzungen für den zweiten Band vor.
Ein wirklich gutes Buch. Das nicht ganz meine Erwartungen erfüllt hat. Ich glaube aber das Junge Leser sehr viel Spaß daran haben werden.
Das Cover ist wirklich wunderschön. Und auch ohne Schutzumschlag kann das Buch punkten! Find ich wirklich toll! Passend zur Story

Any fantasy I ever write must have a bow wielder, it's a slight obsession of mine. So when I discovered this upcoming story from Erin Summerill I knew it would be a must read. Ever the Hunted focuses on Britta Flannery, after the death of her father, as she is forced to hunt his killer. Unfortunately a boy from her past complicates matters entirely. Add countries at the brink of war and an interesting magic system and this makes for one heck of a story.
At the heart of this one is Britta and Cohen and they were honestly the best part about it. Both of them are both highly trained in survival skills like hunting and tracking as well as detrimentally stubborn. Britta faces such loneliness and fear with the loss of her father but she perseveres on, doing what's necessary to survive. Cohen faces his own fears where family is concerned and they rely heavily on each other. The development of these two was excellent and I'd have read this book solely for their moments together.
I mentioned loving archery at the beginning but I'm also a sucker for stories set in wooded areas and elemental magic. Forests offer so many hidden secrets and provide the perfect setting for hunters. Summerill did an excellent job creating this lush environment and I could not have asked for more. Along with the worldbuilding I liked how Channeler magic played a role on both a small and large scale. It directly influenced the political landscape and made for a more intriguing narrative.
While this book was pretty freaking great, I did have a couple of issues with it. A lot of the narrative is spent moving from one place to another, and the action sequences were minimal. It definitely felt like a first in the series, setting up the world and what's to come. Plus, there were a couple of moments in this novel that I called early on, slightly ruining the reveal in the end.
Overall though Erin Summerill's Ever the Hunted was an enjoyable read from start to finish. With an intriguing magic system and a partnership of ups and downs, the author created perfect suspense and I couldn't help but fall in love with Britta and Cohen. It's a great series starter and I look forward to the next installment. I'd definitely recommend this, especially to fans of wooded adventures and elemental magic.

A lot of the plot & romance felt too formulaic to me or maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this book. not sure what I want to rate it.

I loved the main character Britta and loved following her story, I can't wait to see how she grows after this book and after that ending I need another one. I really liked Cohen and I hope there is more too him but I also liked Leif and although there really wasn't much there I think he has potential! I really enjoyed this book apart from the Enat and Thomas bit but other than that I really liked it!
