Quick and easy read. Interesting and compelling story. I was hooked from the beginning and thoroughly enjoyed it

While the negative reviews here have valid points (non-realistic educational settings and issues with overnight success re adaptive technology), this book kept me turning the pages well past bedtime. Its strength lies how it reveals the humanity of someone most of the world doesn't really see, and in the triumph of her spirit. Recommended by my favorite thirteen year old, and I can see why.

I liked this one a lot, but there were just enough problems with it to keep me from giving it five stars. Like the fact that during practice trivia quizzes, Melody got every single question correct, but then when it really counted she struggled with (what I thought were) fairly simple math questions. It was inconsistent.

It's a good book for kids to see things from a different perspective than their own, though. This was a 3-4th grade book for battle of the books.

This book is problematic, ableist and poorly written. Worst book I’ve read so far this year. I give it zero stars!
