We start with Spiderman and end in Pakistan. In the middle, we get a major emotional gut punch and lose a little faith in our super heroes.

I've missed Kamala.

Who knew a comic book arc connected to a company-wide event would be THIS GREAT! Hits all the emotional and storytelling points. Amazing!

This first Civil War story line was bad. It was so bad that, despite loving Kamala more than is probably healthy, I was tempted to skip this trade volume. Kamala won out in the end, because she's Kamala.

I have no idea how the larger Civil War II story line works out, but this book, even with its obvious story line of what happens when you blindly trust an authority figure, is good. And it's important. It's especially important now, just after the second travel ban was put into place. Because if we ever need to be reminded that blindly trusting authority is dangerous, that criminalizing people before any crime has been committed is immoral, that thinking for ourselves is paramount, it's now.

There may have been tears at the end. Shut up.

Kamala is in an important point of her life, being directly involved in predictive justice and having been a local hero of Jersey city. This is a necessary conflict for her to realize the true sense of being a hero and serving the good of everyone. Plus, what happened to Bruno, it's devastating and I think this must provide a very important turning point for her maturity as a hero and as Kamala.
The intro about her mother's past is I think part hinting about her Inhuman gene and part setting up something for her new arc. They've also explained about the bracelets which is good, being an object of her culture.

This felt more Avengers than Ms Marvel which I was not a fan of. However, Skyshark is my favorite sidekick.
