'Some husbands brought their wives flowers, others brought jewelry. Mine? He returned the things he stole.'

She knew she should have known better. Any and all hot guys, at least all the ones she'd ever known, didn't hit on big girls, at least not without having an agenda. No, the hot guy didn't approach a big girl in a bar, hit on her, dance and flirt with her, try and talk their way into that girls bed.

And these same guys never tried to make her feel like she was beautiful, strong, and proud of your curves. But, being a bigger girl, she felt like her entire life had been nothing but a dry spell, and as everyone knows dry spells suck, so when he hit on her, bought her drinks, danced and flirted with her and he managed to talk talk and flirt his way into her bed.

She felt like she was nothing but a fool.

She had believed his every line. The smiles, the lines, everything, he just swept her off her feet, rocked her world, and then he broke her heart by robbing her blind.

She knew it was time to change the rules. It was time to implement the three date rule.

She was so hurt, angry, and what was worse she was embarrassed, so begging her best friend they managed to find the guy who robbed her and forced him to give her back everything that he stole from her. What she found when she found him was what surprised her... He. Wasn't. Alone.

What is a girl supposed to do when she finds her thief, but he has a family with him?

What else can she do? She marries him.

OMG! This is the first Lilliana Anderson book that I have read. She was a recommended author, and Fool Me Twice sounded interesting, so I took a chance on it. Then I learned that this was the first book of Lilliana's new series, The Cartwright Brothers.

I absolutely loved the story and the plot of this book. It's fresh, new and oh so very interesting. I was on an emotional roller-coaster the entire time I was reading this book. One second I was needing a cold shower, and the next, I wanted to slap Goliath across the head. Then I was left panting like a dog and then back to wanting to slam Goliath's head with the door.

I adore Holland as this full figured curvey woman, and she is described perfectly. As a curvey woman myself, I was able to connect with Holland, and I could understand how she felt easily. I love how full of life she is and how she knew what kind of man she was looking for even though she knew that it was going to be challenging.

One night, Holland goes to a club with her friend Alesha, just for a night of fun. It was karaoke night, a surprise to Holland and Alesha. Alesha talks up Holland and finally manages to convince Holland to get up and sing. Holland gets up and sings, and to her surprise, everyone loves it. Most of all, Ben!

Holland goes up to the bar to grab a drink, and while at the bar, Ben approaches her and compliments her on her singing. They start talking, and while talking, she starts getting requests for an encore, people wanting to hear another song.

Holland gets up and does another song. The entire time, she is wondering if “Ben” is just a curvy girl chaser like so many other men. In the end, Holland learns that that's exactly what he is. Sadly, that's after she invites him over to her place for a cold shower and needed a hot night of passion.

“Ben” is a man that no woman would miss, he is tall, dark and has a member bigger than any Holland has ever seen before and he offers her a night that she will never forget. In the stark light of the day leaves Holland in shock with an empty apartment. “Ben” had taken everything she owned, including her mother's heirloom.

Holland didn't care about most of it. She could replace most of what he had taken, and very quickly, she did just that. Her mother's heirloom was the one and only thing that she was not going to let go of.

Together with her best friend, they searched each and every club at night until one day, her aunt suggested she try searching something different. Her aunt suggested trying to search a gym. Bingo! Holland quickly found him.

Upon finding him, Holland learns that “Ben” is no longer “Ben”. Holland learns that he is now going by the name Nate! Holland confronts him, demanding that he return her mothers heirloom back, and that's the only thing that she wants back.

Quickly, Holland finds that Nate has gotten her into yet another mess, and Holland has to try and figure him out for yet a second time and if she can actually trust him this time. NOT! This time, it's even worse. She wakes up to find her entire apartment is empty again, and this time, he even took her bed, and she was waking up on the floor.

Holland goes straight to her aunt, and together, they come up with a plan, just in case this were to happen again.

The story goes on from here, and Holland is taken for on heck of a wild ride, a ride she never wanted to go on. Holland soon learns that there is actually more to Nate than she first knew, and together with Alesha, Hollands best friend, the girls work to figure out how to help Nate.

I loved this bright, new, and exciting story. The suspense, hot passion, and all the emotion makes this a roller-coaster of a ride. I absolutely loved it. Lilliana has come up with an amazing new series that is going to be amazing.

This story flowed perfectly, and there was never a moment that I lost interest in this story, and I had a hard time putting the book down at the times I needed to. And I loved that there was no cliffhanger and ended with a HEA, and I can't wait to read the next book.

OH MY GAWD!!!!!!! Words, what words, I have no words...AHMAZING... that’s right this book is the most unrealistic, funny as pie, serious, unexpected turn of events book I have ever read. I think all these elements made this book incredibly fun to read. It has steam, a lotta steam and the jokes were right up my street.

The chemistry between Nate and Holland was unexpected. After reading the blurb I really had no idea what to expect, except why did she marry him? I have got to say I really didn’t expect half the things that happened in this book and that made it for me. It keeps you on your toes, always thinking the worst and then being pleasantly surprised. It’s unique in its writing and storyline and for me my curiosity was piqued from the first page.

Liliana Anderson has packed so much into this book, that you are never left without something to gnaw on, like a dog with a bone I couldn’t stop reading and laughing out loud.

Fool Me Twice is unusual and witty and definitely without a shadow of a doubt needs to be made into a movie!!!

“Read on behalf of Books After Fifty”

Short review. Mixed feelings. The chemistry between Nate and Holland is definitely steamy but that's kind of the problem, there is a whole lot of steaminess but not enough of them getting to know one another when aren't having sex and you know fighting. At times I felt the book was draining, there was so much going on all at once that none of actions in the book was allowed to breathe. The secondary characters Nate's brothers are a interesting group, I didn't like Nate's mom or how she treated Holland.

Note: This ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. The full review can be read on Dog-Eared Daydreams.

Fool Me Twice had the most unique story line I had ever come across so far this year, and it made for one hell of an entertaining read. I loved that Holland was as kickass as she was, finding courage even when caught in a situation that she felt as if all choice had been taken from her. On the other hand, Nate is one of those heroes that I wasn't all that sure what to do with. Smack him across the cheek or give him a smack on the lips? Choices, choices. But there was so much more to them and to their story than a good girl who walks the straight and narrow falling for the bad boy who could find the a shortcut anywhere, anyhow. This book had angst, albeit in small doses, and while there is resolution as far as Holland and Nate's story is concerned (I so did not see that ending coming!), I've got questions about at least three peripheral characters. Five-plus stars! ♥

If you read this , be prepared to read the next one , then the next one then the next one ....

There is just so much about this book that I maybe shouldn't have liked or that shouldn't have worked. However, it is written with such skill and depth that, despite and maybe because of this, I loved the book.

You do need to suspend your disbelief a little with this book, if you can do that what you will get is one fast paced, twisty, emotional, steamy and funny read. The author even alluded to the crazy plot at one point
I suppose it was the same logic that girls in horror films subscribed to.
Yes, there were times when I almost rolled my eyes at either the actions of the main characters or the plot line but it's worth letting this go and just enjoying the ride.

The book is written entirely from Holland's POV so whilst I totally fell in love with her,
- now she knew that big girls scored hot guys too. I was the best role model ever.
And actually she was, because whilst she had to make unpleasant decisions for her own safety, she never ever lost sight of her true self. I didn't get as good a feel of Nate, and TBH at times he came across as both selfish and a touch arrogant. Rest assured that guy totally redeemed himself by the end of the book.

The story starts of really light and bounced along like the best of rom-coms. When Holland is robbed for the second time, the book takes a darker turn. There are still some very humorous moments, with plenty of giggles along the way but there is also angst and unhappiness. I really had no idea where the story would go and there were so many little twists and surprised in the second half of the book I wasn't sure how the issues between Nate and Holland would be resolved, if they would be resolved, whether Nate was actually our hero (#TeamToby), would he give it all up to become a carpenter (until the library ladder incident!) and whether I would be disappointed in Holland's ultimate decisions.

OMG this story had me gripped and I flew through it in one sitting. The ending was perfect. Though I'm happy to see that Alesha and Sam will be getting their story, as I really need to know why that girl's personality took a 180 degree turn.

And if you're reading this Ms Anderson I'm begging for a HEA for Toby because he totally stole my heart. #TobyNeedsLove.

Fool Me Twice
Cartwright Brothers, Book 1
By: Lilliana Anderson
Narrated by: Amy Soakes

There is something to be said for a family of crime that can be so crooked, yet make me laugh out loud! The Cartwright family did just that! Holland is a bigger girl, slightly awkward and getting older. But she can sing! When Nate Cartwright hears her, he immediately is taken by her. Or is he taking from her? This story from the beginning is quirky and made me smile. Holland is your average woman, has confidence issues, but when provoked is fearless. I loved her tonacity, chasing after Nate without a plan and getting herself into a sticky predicament. I loved Nate with his incredible charm. Though questionable employment, his personality and good looks would win any woman over, so I certainly can understand Holland's quandary! Add in the brothers, his mother and Holland's best friend, and there is chaos and love. A fun listen and will leave you wanting to get to know the next Cartwright better.

Amy Soakes does an amazing job narrating this book. Her American accent is spot on and her pace is perfect. I love her comedic timing, each joke and passage bringing a smile to my face. Its a great listen.
funny lighthearted fast-paced

This is a funny book that has a surprisingly serious take on a very absurd premise. Very funny if you’re willing to overlook the absurdity.
