This book was ok. The art was absolutely amazing don’t get me wrong, a little stiff in some places but that’s all. However, I feel like the writing was tad Mary Sue in nature. The whole world seemed to fit around miles perfectly and there was no moments of reflection. I also feel like the characters were assholes out of nowhere sometimes which threw me off. I wish they would’ve focussed on a topic like Miles talking to Kyle about her dad and his uncle and how he dealt with the grief or maybe him showing her his secret identity showing her that he feels comfortable around her. Either way the story was just just felt quick and easy with no proper roadblocks. 3/5 but mostly for the art style which was super cute.

A solid story accompanied by some gorgeous art! This is for children so if you don’t enjoy childrens things maybe skip this one.

I really enjoyed this. The art is lovely. I adored Miles and all of the side characters. It’s the classic super hero story. The only issue I had was with the plot. Not the actual plot itself. I thought the story was interesting and the villains were fun. It’s the main battle. The showdown it was building up to felt so short and needed so much more. I wanted to see more of a fight and real end to it. But still had a fun time and I know another is coming out later this year that I will definitely be picking up.

This awesome MG graphic novel features one of my favorite characters of all time: Mile Morales. A huge reason why I love him so much is because of the Jason Reynolds version. The fact that Justin A. Reynolds is worked on this version makes it that much better for graphic novels. The artwork was beautiful! It’s perfect for middle grade readers too! The story is strong and tests Miles’ sense of self and character. Thank you Edelweiss for a copy. Grab yours June 1!
