I love Morgan James’ writing, and this book was just as amazing as I knew it’d be!!! “Cruel Vendetta” is a thrilling romantic suspense novel featuring Drew, a small town detective, and Emery, his little sister’s best friend. Drew has been working on a difficult case for a while when Emery’s mom kicks her out, and he learns that she needs a place to stay. Although he is reluctant at first, the more time Drew and Emery spend together, the more he begins to notice her. But someone else has their eye on Emery too, and for far more sinister reasons.

I thought this book was a fantastic read from start to finish - it does contain dark themes, so I would check the trigger warnings. But if you do decide to pick it up, you won’t be disappointed!!! Drew is hardworking and dedicated, and I was so happy to see him fall for Emery because in her, he finds solace and happiness outside of the satisfaction he gets from his job. And Emery! This poor girl, I just wanted to give her so many hugs. She’s kind and sweet, but most of all, she is resilient, and I admire her for it. 5 freaking stars!!!

Floved it! Cute cover and an amazing author! Great story! Emery and Drew are dynamite in this super savvy read.

What did I like? I’ve been a long time fan of this author so grabbing a copy of this was easy. Drew is part of a police force trying to bring in a serial rapist when his sister gives his spare room to a friend. Emery doesn’t get a long with her mom’s boyfriend and needs a place to crash never thinking it would be the guy she’s had a crush on forever. When the sparks fly these two are combustible!

Would I recommend or buy? Long time fan here so yes! Grab a copy! Floved it! This author is always on my list to read and auto buy!

I received a complimentary copy to read early but bought my own when released!

This is not my first Morgan James book. The first book I read was Friendly Fire about Gray and Claire. You’ll meet them in this book, Cruel Vandetta. I loved Friendly Fire and I love this book! This can be read as a stand alone story in this “Rescue and Redemption” series but there are character cross overs. I read Friendly Fire 5 months before reading Cruel Vandetta, so I forgot a lot of the characters. Maybe reading them back to back would have given me a different rating outcome because I really did love this book.

This is the absolutely adorable story of Drew and Emery. These two came together in the most awkward way and it’s so fun to read! Emery is a hard working waitress who is desperately trying save up to get out of her Mom's house. Ever since her Mom's creepy boyfriend moved in, the house is just not as cozy as it once was. Her best friend Izzy helps her find a place as quickly as possible! Drew is a detective that is desperately trying to find a serial rapist in town. Drew comes from a large family of cops and his little sister is Izzy, (Emery's best friend.)

The reason I gave it 4 stars is I had some unanswered questions. At the beginning of the story there’s a mention regarding two characters Clay and Abby that went no where. That whole piece of the story seemed unnecessary. Then there was a mention of Izzy having a boyfriend? But not really? That also went no where. Maybe they’ll come up in the next book but it’s unclear.

Thank you so much to the very own Morgan James for my ARC! This is my honest review and I am truly looking forward to the next installment!!
