Not the travel memoir I was hoping it was.
This is more for a “Sex & The City” fan. I am not.

DID NOT FINISH

This book is annoying and also pretty racist. Like distractingly so and in no way excusable

This memoir held such promise. The author reviewed her own book on Goodreads and that’s honestly what made me choose this book over another on a trip to Powell’s.

There were definitely funny moments, but the review and blurb are misleading in that they advertise that the memoir will make you want to renew your passport and travel solo. It doesn’t. In fact, most of the trips Newman takes are group affairs. And, despite the fact that the title implies a single woman looking for adventure instead of tradition, the whole book is about her looking for and finding love.

Perhaps this would have been better received if the promotion was consistent with the content of the book.

Oh, and one more thing: this book contains one of the most graphic and disturbing sex scene I have ever encountered. I’m scarred for life.

This book was honestly so funny, and I loved how it spanned the single girl travel trips over years.

Every female on Earth should be required to read this book. I laughed out loud more times than I can count, and in the end, I cried big, happy tears. This book made me so excited for my first solo trip, which is hopefully half as exciting as any of Kristin’s!
