This book wasn’t horrible, it was fun. Some racism and major issues with body image bummed me out. Thought it’d be funnier considering the author is a comedy writer. Still fun to get a glimpse into the life of the rich and famous haha

I read this book after my therapist recommended it (I’m a woman who is not having kids by choice), and while I thoroughly enjoyed the travel stories - I really think it missed the mark on anything deeper than grappling with deciding when to “settle down”.

My least favorite quote from the book was, “Which felt like I was choosing to skip a vital life experience, like seeing Paris or having a child”. The exact reason I read this book is because having a child is NOT a vital life experience!

Alas, it pales in comparison to Dolly Alderton’s Everything I Know About Love for me. But ultimately, I just think I was seeking something that this book just wasn’t - depth. A good fun read though, made me want to travel a lot. Wish I was making the kind of money this author obviously is!

(I will also note that this book was published in 2014, so a lot of the humor I feel misses the mark with my generation. I was severely put out by the amount of 30+ men fantasizing or sleeping with teenagers. Also a bit of weird commentary on Israel/Palestine travel section but like… nothing egregious… just feels weird in 2024 lol)

Probably more like 3.5 ✨? I ended up setting this down for a bit (always a bad idea), and I’m not sure to whom I would recommend this book. Perhaps the 20-30-year-old still finding herself and unable to travel during this pandemic? The title is witty, the cover beautiful and the writing engaging.

Personally, it brought back fond memories of my own 3.5 week eurotrip when I was single and in my mid-20s (though I was much more tame!). All in all, I’m glad I took this journey with her.

I wanted to like this one but had a really hard time getting into it. DNF.

The ending saved it.

French bitches, listen up: I’ve found our spirit writer! She’s so us!! Newman’s adventures were wittily told and relatably slutty. It makes me want to reconsider being a television writer… I love Chuck, That 70s Show, and HIMYM, so I was excited to read this memoir from a writer of all three and kindred spirit of travelling. And, dare I say, it gave me hope for finding my husband one day after sleeping around the world <3
