This was such a mixed bag.

I really enjoyed the more informational Hitchhiker’s Guide parts. But I didn’t like Zaphod or the restaurant. I also felt like Trillian was actually a character in this book.

I am curious about how we will continue the series after that ending.

I wasn’t going to carry on with this series, but considering I am reading the series for other books within the 100-book challenge, I thought I would carry on with this series and within the first few pages of this book I instantly regretted it.

This book follows Arthur who we met in the last book. If they have done six impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Millaways, the Restaurant at the end of the Universe? This is what Arthur and the crew plans to do. There's just the small matter of escaping the Vogons, avoiding being taken to the most totally evil world in the Galaxy and teaching a spaceship how to make a cup of tea. And wondering if anyone made a reservation.

As mentioned in my previous review, I was so confused. All the space stuff and there wasn’t a distinct storyline it was just all over the place. You could ask me tomorrow what this book is about, and I couldn’t tell you. I have no idea. Earth exploded and they’ve jumped about 70000 years or something. It was like the longest joke in history where we were just waiting for the punchline. It felt like a children’s book where I didn’t get the joke. I still don’t get the joke. I missed the British humour and would just like that back.

In the last book, the characters made up for his book, but this book introduces more characters that I forgot about until they were mentioned again.

Hopefully, the next book will make sense, but I'm not holding my breath.

Still delightfully eclectic and manic, as we all expect, but this time with a slight tinge of, dare I say it, melancholy. Revelations and spectacular blunders are made that lead to more freak accidents. The characters remain stubbornly and charmingly themselves, and I look forward to the next book, as this one leaves on somewhat of a cliffhanger.
