I expected to really like this book but sadly I was disappointed.
At the beginning I found the narration and perspective of Molly very interresting and well done. But every time she talked about or with Rodney I just became so frustrated! I wanted to dnf this book so many times but instead I finished the audiobook on 3x speed. I liked the aspects of an autistic maid becoming friends with a rich socialite. But Molly not only not recognising all the criminal activity around her for what it was but also participating in it soon got very frustrating to read about. Sometimes it made sense for her character but sometimes she just seemed dumb. For me one of my favourite aspects of reading a Mystery book is following a smart person who sees clues where noone else does. That's why I like Sherlock so much. But Molly wasn't even really involved in trying to figure out who had done it and why. She was just forced into the whole thing by other people and then had to be saved. Also she is the only one who actually saw the real killer? And decided not only to hide their identity but clean up after them? And she didn't even reveal that while she herself was accused of murder? I was soo confused by that and I really can't get over it. I also wish her friendship with Gisele had gone differently because that is a very interesting dynamic. But most of the other storylines just made me mad. Her savings being stolen by her boyfriend and she didn't even tell anyone because she didn't want her grandmother to worry? Also wtf was that ending? She killed her own grandmother??? And that's why she hid that Mr. Blacks ex-wife killed him with a pillow because she saw herself in her?? That's such a weird plottwist that just doesn't make sense to me. For someone who likes rules that much it all seems very out of character. Also her constantly thinking Rodney wants to date her even though he just uses her and wants to get information? And her spending her last money on a super expensive outfit for their 'date'? All of those things made this book not very enjoyable for me. The story was fine and had some interesting elements but it was just way too frustrating for me and there were almost no fun or enjoyable aspects. Maybe thats just not what this book is meant to be but it definitely wasn't it for me and I'm not going to be reading the next two books in this series.

Not really a fan of making the MC such a stereotype of autism... Like it was so obvious but no one brought up in the book? Frustrating to read. The plot wasn't really there and while I didn't guess the actual murderer in the end, it wasn't written like it would be a big deal

Molly has one of the most intriguing POVs I’ve ever read. I really enjoyed learning how her mind works and trying to piece together this mystery. Great read.

This was an easy, fast mystery read. I enjoyed the second half better than the first when Molly was able to form connections and see some success.

Overall (and especially in the first half of the book), I just felt so sad for Molly. Part of this may be my own experience with autism but I just didn’t love the plot of a neurodivergent individual being taken advantage of by many people around her. I felt sad that she was left alone when her grandmother died.

I liked Molly’s character but in my opinion, it didn’t have the perfectly quirky Eleanor Oliphant vibes that many people reference.

Although I enjoyed the read, I probably won’t be continuing to the second book.

I had a bit of trouble getting through about the first half of this book. It didn’t quite grab me in the way I thought it would from all I’ve heard about this book. I think it was because the narrator’s voice took some time to get used to. But I was hooked by the second half and eager to see how things would work out for Molly.

Didn't vibe with the writing style. I don't believe it was very good autistic representation either, the narrator/main character did not come across as autistic, she came across stupid, and they are not the same thing.

I enjoyed this book, the plot twist at the end really surprised me!  I don't think I've read a book before with the point-of-view of someone who is autistic (or at least heavily implied to be) - which is great representation for Neurodiverse folks. The depiction was well written, although I believe it fell into quite a few stereotypes - which took away from that slightly. Overall a good book :)
