this was a 3 star until the last quarter or so.

wow, i am so glad this book exists. this is somethjng i would have killed to read as a teenager. it isn’t as impactful as it would have been, but it said exactly what me at 15 would have needed to hear.

the distance between now and me being 15 was nice in a way—the main character is selfish and cynical, much like my 15 year old self. though if i had read this as a teenager i might think she is giving 15 year olds a bad name (nope, they are actually just that bad!)

Not a likeable main character, but she is kind of typical of a teenager. I loved the side characters.

But a HP reference in a queer book in 2021? Come on.

Jag läste den svenska översättningen som inte alla har ett lika snyggt omslag. Dock en väldigt bra bok med en huvudperson som har ett lite annorlunda sätt att se världen.

Phoebe is cynical beyond her years, but I think that's what makes the romance bit so sweet when it does happen. Loved her friendships in the charity shop and lots of funny lines.

I really enjoyed this book. The book was told in a great diary type format which I always enjoy. I love a book with a flawed and honest narrator as well.
This book really had it all. A sarcastic narrator, a queer romance, a thrift shop romance, and so many cats! This book is so much fun but it also takes on series subjects like greaf and abandonment.
I really hope to see more from Brueggermann in the same vain as this book. I also can't wait to get my hands on the physical copy of this book. I mean just look at how great the cover is!
