My first Neil Gaiman ever. Fell for him harder than suicide over bridge.

As Stephen King says on the back of this book "we're lucky to have Gaiman in any medium". I feel the same way. It's admirable that every story I've read of him has it's own narrative and worldbuilding but it still has that unique Gaiman touch. Because of that Neil Gaiman is one of the best writers I know, which comes with my a more selective rating. I really liked this book although I wasn't into the mood to read Coraline as much as I thought I would. Lately I'm not that drawn to children's literature anymore, maybe it's called growing up (although I'm sure I'll grow back into it a few months later). Some other stories in this definately deserve a four or five star rating like 'Chivalry' and 'The trol bridge'. All in all this is a treasurefind of short stories, some more valuable than the others. I do know that this will be forever into my bookcase and will be looked into much more. It's going to be interesting to see if I'm drawn to other stories as the time passes. Now there were some stories that I didn't like as much, such as 'Sunbird'.

I absolutely loved this book. Coraline is one of my favourite films so naturally reading it is something I've always wanted to do, and it didn't disappoint! Gorgeously eerie and full of beautiful writing, Neil Gaiman is a treasure.

Brilliant, well Coraline was, the rest of the book apart from three stories, were used in other anthologies I've read by Neil Gaiman, so a lot of the book was skimmed through; but that doesn't mean that the book wasn't good, it was brilliant and the best stories were within.
