It was OK. The puzzle pieces came together in the end, but the various theories I had in my head were better than on the written page.
I read 'The Patient's Secret' & loved it. Thinking that book might have set the bar too high. Regardless, I enjoyed this read & would describe it as juuuuicy. Mia was not something I was expecting & the ending is definitely not something I could have predicted.

I had so much fun reading this book! It pulled me in right from the start and kept me invested. Loreth Anne White masterfully weaves a layered mystery through dual timelines, combining diary entries with a present day investigation to build suspense and deepen the intrigue. And I genuinely didn’t see the twists coming, they completely caught me off guard and the pacing kept everything tense and engaging. Highly recommend! I’m excited to read more from this author 📚
Poor Sylvia. I hope it was quick.
JonJon got off easy with the icyhot.
Daisy definitely votes against her best interests.
Pop off Katarina Popovich. Or Kit. Or Vanessa. Or Kat. Or Mia.
A story of being whoever you need to be to get a job done.

i really liked all of the different perspectives and the idea of the book. i thought this was so fun to read and kept me very hooked. the topics it touched on were super important and i liked that the author didn’t shy away from them. i feel like the ending was very rushed and i don’t understand the timeline of the events for how it could have possibly made the murder happen? it doesn’t make sense to me. but maybe i just didn’t understand.
4.75, This was my first Loretta Anne White novel, and all I can think to say right now is WOW! I am usually pretty good at figuring out plot points and endings, but this book kept me on my toes. There are so many twists that left my jaw on the floor. I was a little hesitant in the beginning because each “chapter” is a different person’s point of view and a different period in time, but it all came together so easily. My favorite quote in the book: “People can seem so ordinary on the surface, but scratch the veneer, and there’s always a secret beneath the gloss.” Can’t wait to read more by Loretta Anne White! I highly highly recommend this book.

4 ⭐️ Fans of Freida McFadden NEED to give Loreth Anne White a try - her books are quick page-turning detective-style thrillers that actually keep you guessing til the end. As an avid thriller reader, not much catches me by surprise but Loreth manages to pull it off. Her books have the same bingeable writing as Freida but with more complex characters and intriguing
plot lines. An easy 4 stars!
