3.5 rounded up.

I really disliked the first third or so of this book and the title feature, the diary, was my least favorite part. Thankfully, it picked up and hooked my interest in the back stretch.

One of my favorite thrillers of the year! I can’t wait to read more from this author.

I enjoyed this book.  I received this recommendation from a booktuber and was glad that I took it.  It was a fast listen and took some unexpected twists and turns.  I'd read from this author again.

This might be my favorite thriller book this year. It was *so good*. I mean. So incredibly good!!!

The twists and turns in this one were actually so surprising. I didn’t expect them at all!

10/10 recommend!!

It's a fun read with a few unexpected plot twists, but there are way too many info dumps through dialogue (which I find incredibly annoying, nobody talks like that!) and too many unnecessary side plots that go nowhere (the husband's mental decline, Horton). I'm also not a fan of the diary writing style and the constant repetitions due to the different PoVs; not every book needs to be 350+ pages.
Overall a light and entertaining vacation read.

This a great read by a great author of mystery books. A very twisty mystery. Though it's another book with a maid as the main character it's very different than the others you may have seen out there.
Main character Kit is the maid, and Mallory or Mal is the detective. POV switches between them, with entries from the diary inserted here and there as well. This starts out with you knowing the end result, but not knowing how everything started. A page turning that I had to keep reading to find out what the heck happened and how everything fit together. Recommended.
