loveeee

I was so proud of myself for having a rough idea where this book was heading but there were so many twists and turns. Everything perfectly executed. Loved it

Even though I didn’t care for any of the characters, save homicide detective, Mallory Van Alt, I really enjoyed this twisted mystery. Just a warning - There are a lot of really horrible subjects in these pages: gang rape, an abortion gone wrong, and of course a philandering husband who just can’t help himself when he has an “urge”. But this tale of a Halloween murder takes several unforeseen turns before it’s over and will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Kit Darling is thirty-four-years-old, single and is employed as a maid. What her clients don’t know is that she is a compulsive snoop. Nothing is off limits to her urge to know: computer files, medicine cabinets, even highly guarded secrets hidden away in a personal safe.

Her current clients include Daisy and Jon Rittenberg. He is a gold medal skier; she is the daughter of ultra wealthy, privileged parents. Kit just can’t help herself from looking through their home for clues about their past. The thing is, Kit herself is part of their past too. She is determined to find answers and make sure that her suffering is reciprocated back to the cause of her angst.

really glad i spent my vegas trip reading this
mysterious medium-paced
slow-paced

This was recommended highly to me, but I have to say I was disappointed. It was too complicated with the switching narrorators without really adding more to the story. It was a little slow in the middle and fell into so many usual tropes. Just didn’t love the whole thing, felt like a rushed ending which wasn’t satisfying. Hopefully my next read is better.
