3.5 (higher end)⭐️
I just love a good thriller. This was a good one extremely satisfying to say the least. This may be an unpopular opinion but I don’t think all thrillers have to be unpredictable to be good. I felt the plot was predictable but it was enjoyable to see how they got to the “twist”. It had me locked in from page 1. I did round down .5 due to the fact that I did find the writing /plot to be a little disjointed. There were some characters written in that didn’t make a lot of sense to me almost as if the author forgot to go back and write a plotline in it for them. And a little confused on the purpose of Mal’s personal storyline and how it pertains to the plot lol. All in all I enjoyed it.

Now that's a thriller! I've been struggling with thrillers lately, as I keep just waiting and waiting for a crazy twist, because we know it's coming. I think we're all searching for that moment we had in Gone Girl, but now it's being done so frequently it feels expected and unsurprising, even if we don't guess it exactly. I had the same experience here - I knew something wasn't right (obviously), and while I didn't guess it completely, I still wasn't *shocked*. BUT. This book was still wildly entertaining, well-plotted, and super fun to read!

The first half of the book was quite slow but it really picks up in the second half. The plot twist at the end IS INSANE! The ending really made the book worth reading.
