I might pick it up again but it just got so very annoying after a bit. I understand that Lucifer does turn against God but I wish we had more explanation and buildup as to why. And also after he is reprimanded by God and punished, he flips a switch and becomes the most vain and prideful person ever. (I know he's literally Satan but I would have rathered a more slow approach to it) I really love the beginning though it just all stopped making sense to me after a bit. If I see enough reviews convincing me, I'll pick it up again.

A retelling of Lucifer’s fall from heaven. An angel that was too curious, learned too much, leading him to descend into hatred and anger, an anger that was fed to him by the hands that made him. The growth of his character throughout the book was immense. The beginning was a little slow and repetitive and we all know how it ends. The last half was faster and the last 30% was brutal and it probably would’ve hit harder if I grew up religious. Still a beautifully written book.

This book asks the important question of what if Satan was a power hungry femmeboy and I am here for it.
The character development of Lucifer reminded me of Grenouille from The Perfume in a lot of ways, which adds to the theme of Lucifer as creator/artist. I think this book is very well written and has a lot of room for interpretation on various topics.

I wasn’t a fan of the character developments as much; I’m all for self-confidence, but this just made me cringe. While I’m not Christian, I also didn’t like the way in which God made his angels worship him and only him - it gave me the major ick. There were just a lot of cringe moments
