*She can't make a baby without a husband! Or can she? *
A fter witnessing the miracle of birth, self-determined spinster Miss Penelope Crone is having second thoughts about swearing off marriage. She wants – no, she needs – to experience the blessed event herself. Dear God, she’s practically thirty! Time is running out!
H ugh Chesterton, Viscount Danbury, is relatively intelligent, good looking, unmarried, and most importantly, close at hand. With a little décolletage, a sway of the hips, and a few drinks of brandy, Penelope is certain she can extract a respectable offer.
I f only she’d accounted for the power of passion.
B ecause unchecked lust takes over, leaving Penelope in a most precarious predicament. And Lord Danbury –– the goose-brained jackanapes –– is proving far less attainable than she’d imagined.
I s Penelope to be cast out of society or will Lord Danbury take a leap of faith and save her from ruin? He'd better act fast if he's going to make her his lady. HIs Lady At Last...

It was not. It was a 28 year old woman acting 18. And the beginning of the book was strange but not awful.
The end of the book was genuinely the worst. It felt rushed. It felt like it was written by a teenager.
I made it to the end, but just. No. Not a fan

These two clearly are meant to be together and both are stubborn and full of passion. I was jumping up and down when he finally remembered and then my heart sunk when he arrived home to what he did. Everything in that scene had my heart racing, holding my breath, and tears in my eyes all for good and bad reasons. Major book hangover after the amazing ending.
Penelope is a determined woman that always gets what she wants when she sets her mind to it. I loved how she could walk in and fix things like it was nothing. She just couldn’t fix this as easily and her emotions leap off the pages at every turn. If only she could get him to listen and give details
Hugh knew something changed when he saw that baby. his emotions when came to her were so clear. I wanted to shake him to make him remember everything. When he ordered the doctor out I could feel the pain in his voice. What he did next shocked me and melted my heart to his stubbornness and the way he acted.
There is a picnic scene that has something I have never seen in HR, but it was very well done and takes it to a 3 1/2 kisses on the spice level. But it was very well done.
The birth scene is a bit traumatic so it may be triggering to some, but it is very well done.
