Excellent short story. I listened to it using a text to speech voice called Katherine. "She" did an excellent job.
The story is based on the quest to find the answer to the question will energy last forever. The answer is, of course, no. But wishful thinking by the remanents of "Man" keep hoping there is a way they can live forever. Isaac Asimov does a much better job of defining the coming end than I ever could, although I have tried.
Take a look/listen at The Last Question. It is worth your time.
