OK, this is as accessible as it gets. For advanced feminists, even European women at large, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s introduction to feminism might simply be too much of a platitude. Not to mention her overbinary approach on what femininity stands for, as in being heteronormative and ignoring the mere existence of queer and/or trans individuals. Nevertheless, the message is still needed. And her anecdotal, personally wrapped-up way of delivering it is effective in displaying feminism in its many aspects. Just as the original and much-viewed Tedx Talk did. Even though We Should All Be Feminists does not really drive this point home, it does offer insight into feminism’s main battlefield and, most importantly, it’s raison d’être. And just so you know: a feminist is “a person who believes in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes”.

Key points that we need to focus on ability and interest instead of gender when raising children. Women and girls are not to compete against each other but lift each other up. Also, culture does not make people, people make culture.
As a mother to a son, I need to make sure he understands these concepts of feminism.

10/10 read, i definitely feel like her story was more personal than the bell hooks book and
it made me really reflect and unlearn a lot of ideas norms i that didn’t even realize. The direct examples of how feminism impacts the general society as a whole and would also uplift masculinity is beautiful. I think she is so right with men always wanting to lead, but it's primarily pushed on them by adults and experiences in their youth and never corrected. Yes, men are most likely physically stronger but we're not caveman, we evolved. Todays society you need brains, innovation, and techniques to survive and who's to say that a man is better than a woman in these aspects? I hope for the betterment of society and the realization to come for a lot of men and women that feminism isn't bringing men down, rather uplifting women and erasing the years of oppression brought to them by powerful insecure men.
