There is not denying this is a classic. The way the plot unfolded so neatly, and the writing was good. The narrative being told through reports was interesting. Despite that I was rather bored and I struggled to get through this book.

Read aloud for bedtime.  I quite liked it but the children thought it long and boring and Tabby actively hated it.
There was some racist language I had to edit as I read, including the N word.

It was slower and less action-packed than I thought it might be but the writing was beautiful and imaginative!
