One of my top 10 listened to novels of 2025! Very well done!!

Did not think I was going to like this, was very upset with the characters for the first half but came around to it. Odd to think back to covid times and all the shit that was going down.

"You can't plan your life, Finn,' I say quietly, 'Because then you have a plan. Not a life."

Jodi Picoult's books always surprise me but this one resonated especially. I am not giving away anything but when you read the book at a certain stage you are completely - what's the word - dazzled? And I still am to be honest. I loved that point and also how what lead up to it changes everything. It's mind-blowing and I am sure I will reread this book time and time again!

This is the first book I’ve read where Covid and the pandemic were part of the main storyline. While it was only 5 years ago that the world shut down, reading this brought back memories of my own time during the pandemic. I was fortunate to not be a high risk, didn’t have kids, didn’t work in healthcare, was not an essential worker…but this story incorporates some of these topics as we follow the main character, Diana, as she leaves for a trip to the Galapagos as the pandemic begins.

Without giving anything away, this book was a great reminder to seize the moments you can, big and small. Whether that’s a change in your job or pouring yourself a cup of coffee in the morning…be in the moment, savor it. We only have one life to live.
