The Guilt Trip follows two married couples (Rachel and Jack, Paige and Noah) as they travel with Jack’s brother Will and fiancé Ali to Portugal for their wedding. They stay at an amazing seaside villa. From the start, there is contention towards Ali, the newcomer to this tight-knit group. Rachel is more welcoming towards Ali because they will be sisters-in-law. Also, Ali once worked for her husband Jack.

Ali is young, flirtatious, overly-dramatic and high maintenance. Much drama surrounds Ali as Rachel discovers inconsistencies and half-truths from conversations with Ali.

There’s some character development in the first half between Rachel and Paige. Also, speculations fly of extra-marital affairs, paternity, and deception between a couple individuals. For long-time friends, seems a lot of “stuff” gets revealed during this destination wedding. Makes me wonder how they’ve maintained this friendship with the secrets and lies beneath the surface. In this drama, things aren’t necessarily how they appear. There’s definitely a lot of tension which I thought Ms. Jones did a great job creating.

I found this book entertaining and it kept me guessing throughout due to misdirections and misunderstandings between the characters. I was expecting more of a thriller in this remote seaside spot, but I enjoyed the twists in the end. I’d rate this 3-1/2 stars rounded up

Man, this one kept me guessing! I was a bit confused at the beginning with all the characters being introduced almost all at once. So much drama and had me flip-flopping on who to believe vs. who was telling tales.

The narration was great - no issues there at all!

This is my least favorite Sandie Jones novel. It was like a boring soap opera until the last quarter of the book where there was finally some suspense and plot twists.

Talk about WHIPLASH!!! My heart rate is like 220 after reading this page turner. The book builds up the suspense until about 65% through and then comes the big reveal. But is it??? At this point you have to finish the book no matter what time it is. Back & forth, back & forth until FINALLY it starts making sense and adding up and boy is it juicyyy. The last 20% of this book was MIND BLOWING 🤯 So many twists and turns all well thought out and intense. Huge fan. Loved every minute of this book and couldn’t put it down.

ALSO THE EPILOGUE??? I dont know what to think anymore. But man do I love it.
