“O captain! My captain!”
“One reads poetry because he is a member of the human race, and the human race is filled with passion! Medicine, law, banking-these are necessary to sustain life. But poetry, romance, love,beauty? These are what we stay alive for!”
“Deal with the important things in life-love,beauty,truth,justice.”
OH! This was *almost* as sad as the film. I was a little bit disappointed with the first section, the writing isn’t as good as it was throughout the remainder of the novel. Neil and Todd’s have my heart<3333 even in this their characters are just as great and loveable. This DESTROYED me !!!! I was in tears while reading. This is quite possibly one of the most beautiful books i have ever read

“We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, "O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless... of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?"
