Wow, what a lovely book. The book "Destination Anywhere" written by Sara Barnard will take your emotions for a ride. One page I was happy then immediately mad then a couple pages later I was almost crying. The story follows seventeen year old Peyton who left home to have an adventure in Canada because she needed to escape her life. Growing up she was bullied and when she finally gets 'friends' it does not go how she always imagined it would. This story is a great coming of age book about a girl finding herself and learning that it is okay to not be okay. I think the author handled Peyton's hardships and her leaving in such a believable way. This story felt realistic to me which matters because some readers will be able to connect and relate to what happened to Peyton. I know when reading this book it made me reflect on my childhood and how I always struggled getting friends. This book could help take someone on an adventure while at the same time facing real life issues.

Should you read "Destination Anywhere"?
YES! I recommend this for anyone who likes to read coming of age stories that feel so full of emotion. There were so many times when reading this book I wished I could hug Peyton for what she went through.

I always love Sara Barnard's books and this one was just as wholesome and heartbreaking as the others. Peyton has been bullied throughout school and so when college begins, she is determined to be liked and make friends. However her desperation to find friends leaves her in a bad group. She ends up running away to Canada with no plan and only her rucksack to have the adventure of her life! I loved the people she meets along the way and the descriptions of all the places she travels to and it makes for a really good story about finding yourself and being who you want to be.

naja... ist nicht schlecht, kann gelesen werden, aber auch nicht besonders spannend oder gut:( sehr typische Geschichte, vorhersehbar und bisschen zu kitschig.
emotional reflective sad fast-paced

deeply unrelatable for me in some aspects and quite relatable in others. i do think that the concept is pretty unrealistic re: age gaps between some folks and peyton, but the prose is strong and storyline is good

Average.

I was expecting worse from what she experienced in the “before”. I’m not saying what happened was okay because it wasn’t but I feel there is a difference between bullying and toxic relationships.

So every time Peyton talked about being bullied, I wasn’t feeling it. She had shitty friends and they ultimately did a shitty thing, which wasn’t surprising as they were not nice people.

I will admit she was bullied in her earlier years, when she didn’t have friends but she seems to refer to what her “friends” did to her was bullying and I didn’t think that was the right word for it.

In general, there wasn’t anything about Peyton that I liked so the whole thing was less enjoyable because of it.

I’ve read better books with travel and “finding yourself” as the main plot.

I loved this book! It gave me all the wanderlust feels and I loved how it dealt with friendships, too. Definitely recommending this one.
