Goddamn, how the mighty have fallen. And I meant Yarros' pen. This book reminded me why I don't really read YA anymore, especially when children haven't had their frontal lobes developed yet! Violet has emerged, like a phoenix from the ashes, as an extremely whiny and hypocritical character in this book. Some of her actions and thoughts really made me pause and take a beat because of how tragically un-self aware she is. Then again, she's the main character - obviously everyone fawns over her. There's always going to be something about Violet and Xaden and their relationship that make people bend over backwards for them.

Anyway, it's not an entirely bad book. The writing could have been better, sure. And yes, I do like the premise and some of the plot developments, but fuck me if I have to read about the thoughts and complaints of barely-there adults. STOP WHINING AND GET A GRIP!!!

W....T....F.... obviously, I didn't read ALL of the spoilers for this book, so when I came up on THAT part.... it broke me completely. I was an absolute sobbing mess. I truly can't understand how people who loved the first book, didn't love this one... but that is absolutely NOT the case in my situation. We learned so much in this book and still have so much to learn in the next... I'm glad I waited to read this so I could go IMMEDIATELY into Onyx Storm. I have thankfully avoided any spoilers for this book but I am also 98% sure I know what Violets second signet is... and anyone else who's read the book should too... all you have to do is ASK. I'm completely obsessed with this entire story and I don't care what that makes anyone else think of me... I can only hope to be as badass as Violet one day and of course find my own Xaden to love me wholly and completely, as well as bond with two badass dragons? ugh. I wish it could be a reality. I love that books take me from my own reality and let me live in between their pages but I also grieve when I have to wake up from my reading daze and realize that we aren't in Navarre. I'm going to take my time with Onyx Storm just as I did Iron Flame because I'm not sure I can wait another year before another book is released.... I hope Rebecca changes her mind because there are too many amazing series out there and I don't want to forget about how THIS series makes me feel.

don't listen to the negative reviews.... if you love the characters and the story line of Fourth Wing then you will only love this book too. It's more story driven but definitely has the aspects of romance that that warms our heart (and between our legs, amiright!?) I don't think any book I read is absolutely perfect which is why I base my ratings on how books make me FEEL.. and this book made me feel EVERYTHING. I'll never get over the death of Liam and now what came at the second to last chapter... oh my heart. How else are you going to break and devour us whole Rebecca!?

Obviously this entire series is a God Tier series for me so I will take NO criticisms from anyone, please and thank you!
