I enjoyed the overprotective Scotsman. Eveline seemed a bit mercurial.

*4.5 stars

GOD where is my giant man who gets violently ill at the thought of the slightest inconvenience befalling me....

Three stars may be an unfair rating but I was loving this book until the so called conflict. I guess my rating is more like a 3.5. In 2019 I’d like to see less big misunderstandings, random kidnappings, ridiculous villains, governesses or actresses turned duchesses...I could go on but I’ll stop. Certain tropes just don’t work for me.

Anywho the books begins with the king issuing a decree that the Montgomery laird and the daughter of the Armstrong laird will marry to smooth out the conflict between the two families. What makes the decree more interesting is that the Armstrong daughter, Eveline is thought to some issues and does not speak.

I absolutely loved the relationship between Graeme and Eveline. Lots of great characters, I’m looking forward to continuing on :)

All the reviews on this are negative? Idk I didn’t hate it, I thought it was cute. There were some parts where I was annoyed at the main characters and the way in which the author phrases things but no mayor complaints on my part.

Five stars bc

I loved this story it was a great read. I found myself hooked on character Eveline when reading about what she was going through. I loved reading this story and it has made me want to continue with the trilogy to findIout what happens to thr clans next. Would definitely recommend it and will read it again xx

This is just the kind of book I need right now. It’s sweet, hopeful and lovely. Eveline and Graeme are a nice central pair and their trials and tribulations never left me bored or annoyed. It’s an escapist fantasy that I thoroughly enjoyed.

P.S. The cover is entirely wrong, since that photo looks way too modern to represent these characters.

Omg this was a good book, loved the characters and felt so much for Eveline.

I do not generally like historical romances these days. I NEVER would have picked up this book based on the title and cover because of that. But I do love romances that feature characters with disabilities and this was recommended as one of those so I thought I would give it a shot. Lucky me.. because i really loved it. Does any of this feel even remotely grounded in reality? No...at least not to me...but I dont care. I liked the characters, thought the story was fun, and it kept me engaged the entire time. Definitely recommend this one.
