I loved it so much!!! THEy are SOOO cute together and I love both characters soo much. Hes so protective of her and she is adorable and smart and wity and amazing and super brave. I wanna see their babies...
Probably one of the better historical romance books I've read. Granted, I have not read that many...
This was my proper Historical Romance read.
I'm not sure why I decided to pick it up except the fact I have read other books by Maya Banks and enjoyed them. This book was enjoyable, cute but predictable.
The sex scenes were not too smutty but explained well that I could enjoy them.
Im not sure I will be reading any more Historical Romances but it was a nice way to spend a couple of hours.

I absolutely loved this book!! I remember not liking the first historical I read by Maya Banks, but I’m glad I gave her another chance, because otherwise I would’ve missed out on this amazing story!
The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, two of Scotland’s strongest clans, have been at war for decades. The Scottish king, wanting peace within his realm, arranged a marriage between Graeme Montgomery and Eveline Armstrong to force an alliance between the two warring clans. Needless to say, no one was happy with the arrangement and it was a wonder that the wedding didn’t end in a bloodbath.
“You’re receiving a gift, Laird. Whether you choose to believe so or not, you are receiving something more precious than gold.”
Ever since her accident three years ago that rendered her deaf, Eveline had been pretending daft to avoid marriage to an unwanted suitor. Now that she is forced to be married, she decides to drop the deception in front of her husband and begin a new life. Eveline is the one that shone the brightest in this story. I liked her from the beginning. She was a courageous and resourceful woman who found a way to get out of marriage to a horrible man, even if it meant deceiving her entire family. I loved how optimistic and how hard she tried to fit in with the Montgomerys, to make the best of an awful situation. Honestly, Eveline’s one of the best heroines I’ve read in a while and I just love her. Ms. Banks also made me feel super protective her, and anytime someone mocked her or maligned her I just want to take a sword and beat them to death! But Eveline didn’t need my protection! She did just fine on her own!
It was hard to be happy in a place where no one wanted her, no matter the effort she put into changing that fact.
With such a strong heroine, Graeme wasn’t a push over either. While he didn’t leave as strong an impression as Eveline did, I love how protective he was. Even though Eveline was from his rival clan and he didn’t want the marriage, he still protected her as if she was one of his own and treated her with so much respect and caring and didn’t lash out at her at all. I can’t say the same for his stupid clan though. I just wished Graeme had stepped in faster with his iron fist to stop his clan from mistreating Eveline so much. Then again, Eveline did manage to gain his clan’s acceptance through her own actions, so go Eveline!
He was holding in his arms the woman meant for him. Nothing would ever feel this right if he lived to be a hundred.
With a set-up like this, marriage between two rival clans, the love story was extremely moving. I loved how Graeme finally moved beyond his hatred of the Armstrongs because of his love for Eveline. It’s such a feel good story about how love can conquer all, and I’m not complaining, since I devoured every word. The only little complaint I wished the story had more heat factor. It was definitely more focused on the feelings and fell short of awesome on the bedroom department.
“My lady, I don’t simply care for her. I love her. She is my entire life. Without her, I am nothing. I have nothing.”
I definitely recommend this to all romance lovers. Even if you’re not a historical person, the characters and the stories are so well-done that you’ll find yourself loving the story. Also, I feel like I say this about every one of her historicals, but I love the cover!! As much as I love my naked-guy-chest covers, these are so eye-catching and beautiful with the plaid background and the characters in the front!

This was such a good book. I loved the slow burn I loved the loyalty of the characters and I loved the plot. She was such a good natured soul and he was all she needed. I loved this book and will probably read it again sometime.
Loved it such a sweet romance. I will say there were parts where it dragged a bit for me
