I loved the Hulu miniseries and was curious to read the original. It's an important story that provides a unique take on the absurd horror of war. It was also hilarious. That said, compared to the miniseries, the story felt a bit disjointed and the characters a bit one dimensional. Also, it was difficult to enjoy the overtly written-by-a-man female characters, or the way the male characters interacted with them.

This book could get the same point across in about a single chapter. It reminds me of how the game of Monopoly was never meant to be fun to play, rather, it was supposed to be frustrating to make a point. This book makes it's point by being frustrating to read. Also it fails the Bechdel even more miserably than On the Road.
I very, very rarely don't finish a book. I don't think I lasted more than 50-60 pages. I had absolutely no idea what was going on in the book, I was bored out of my skull and I thought it was just...blah.
