My favorite wartime story. It is a wonderfully, thought-provoking satire that has a plethora of amazing quotes and vocabulary.

This was a pretty tough read, ngl, but incredibly gratifying to complete. Some chapters/scenes were some of the funniest writing I’ve read, while other parts are quite dull. The themes of the book are stellar, though, and the excessive character development makes for a really interesting story.
I'm sorry, but I NEVER got into this book. I get what Joseph Heller was trying to do with the humor and confusing/chaotic conversations and events, but this wasn't for me. I didn't care about any of the characters, I never felt sad or happy or really much of anything while reading this. All this said, I see the merit in the writing and I can see why people love it, but I just did NOT enjoy reading it. That's pretty much all I have to say about that...

Despite the complicated ramblings of the book, the seemingly incoherent plot lines and meanderings of the writing, there isn’t a thing I’d change about this book. Simultaneously the funniest and saddest war story. Brings home the realities of ptsd and the fact that 95% of war isn’t combat, and that combat isn’t glorious. Honestly in on the absurdity of the military bureaucracy and the idiosyncrasies of the people you meet in the service, the chaotic nature of the ego of commanders. Truly a unique and masterful piece of literature that I hope everyone can read and digest in the same joyful way that I was able to.
