This came highly recommended and I took the plunge based on another book I previously read and enjoyed by the author. ([b:Rafe: A Buff Male Nanny|41712479|Rafe A Buff Male Nanny (Loose Ends #1)|Rebekah Weatherspoon|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1536086084l/41712479._SY75_.jpg|65058784])

I'll try to keep it short, I obviously was excited about the fake relationship trope and sold about the premise of a successful black lawyer needing to lay low after an attempt murder on her person. A gruff and on the spectrum farmer hottie hero held some major appeal for me as well.

As much as I liked Liz and Silas as individuals, I didn't find anything remotely appealing and exciting going on between them on the pages. I couldn't get any sense of chemistry or romance between them.
The pacing and parameters of their relationship be it fake or real felt really odd to me?

The rivalry drama going on between the brothers sounded pretty contrived and added nothing to the story for the reason it felt as a pretext rather than a reason for their difference of characters. Even the "fake relationship" excuse came off as a lousy way to throw Liz and Silas together in a forced proximity setting.
I thought for a fleeting moment that some tension would build on the forced proximity premise but it never occured for some reason.
As for the sex aspect of their lovemaking... sadly I just couldn't enjoy it, it felt too... scripted? It lacked something, emotions? I would have wished more development about Liz's past as a professional dominatrix.

Overall grabbed by the premise and intrigued by the diverse characters but felt disappointed by the execution and lack of romance on the pages.

I keep forgetting that I read this one (so much that I forgot to mark it read), and I can't really remember too much about it other than farming stuff.

Sanctuary revolves around Liz and Silas, who meet when Liz has to hide out after a former client wants her dead.

I liked how the two characters met and I loved the backdrop of the farm and all the secondary characters that were around them. I liked how Liz and Silas came together and their conversations about their relationship.

I was not a huge fan of the ending as it felt quite rushed for me and I would have preferred a longer conversation about what was going on.
