Someone Like You follows Hannah as she escapes her abusive husband, with her daughter Ava, to a small village in the hopes of hiding. It’s while there that she meets Brody, and she begins her journey to a new life.
It’s written in 3rd person but is also Dual POV. Sometimes it changes POV in the middle of chapters, sometimes for just a few paragraphs, which can be a little confusing if you’re not paying attention (nobody’s fault and has no effect on my rating but I was further let down by my kindle app just removing the paragraph  breaks, meaning the POV was changing sentence to sentence).
I sped through the first half of this, though I then found the pacing seemed to slow dramatically and I was just pushing through to get to the final resolution. It’s also very insta-lovey and think time jumps may have helped with both of these. I appreciated that while Brody is a policeman who wants to help Hannah, its clear she has been let down multiple times in the past by people who should have been there for her, making it feel more realistic. I thought the portrayal of Hannah’s courage and determination,  strengthening slowly and though it wavers at times, she is able to overcome so much to find happiness for herself and her daughter.
