As suggested in the title this book fundamentally focuses on the life and not the death of Stephen Lawrence. It is very carefully crafted so that the reader can sense Stephen's passions and goals, as well as the love his friends and family had for him. It does not dwell on the hateful atrocity because it does not wish to give any more attention to a part of Stephen's life; A part which did not reflect the beauty he brought into the world. It is a great book to educate children about racism in a way that is not graphic or violent and does not reduce Stephen's life to this act of hate.

A really lovely account of Stephen Lawrence’s life, told by his family, friends and teachers. This short read was a tribute to Stephen’s memory and it was very touching.
